Hello all,

Entry #1 of what may be the last or first of many blog posts. This entry will be focused on hitting all those fancy buzzwords that Google recognizes for ranking websites for search results.

We have the best pizza in Leander and Liberty Hill, voted on by the people! Our happy hours offer any draft beer for $4 Monday-Friday. Our daily pasta specials are priced for a more affordable lunch option at $9.95!

We offer a range of pasta options to satisfy all pallets. Our house spaghetti sauce has been passed down the Sabino family tree for generations. The sauce takes hours to cook! Brown the meat, add the onions, garlic and tomatoes. Simmer forever! The process is what makes our house spaghetti sauce better than your average pasta sauce. Our alfredo sauce is creamy, with just enough kick and flavor that makes it the perfect complement to fettucine and chicken. A hidden gem on our pasta menu is the "pink sauce" that mixes our house spaghetti sauce with alfredo sauce. You get the best of both worlds! The saltiness from the meat in the red sauce provides the perfect pairing with the creaminess of the alfredo. My favorite is to do the pink sauce with tortellini and add some jalapenos to kick it up a notch. I'd be remiss to not mention our Dave's Pasta entree. A dish that I would make for myself when I was looking for a high protein, low fat meal but packed with so much flavor from the premium extra virgin olive oil adding in the fresh feel of the minced garlic and onions. Simply my favorite thing to eat on the menu!

Our pizza has been a work in progress for nearly 20 years. Working in pizza shops growing up, I knew exactly what I wanted our pizza to be. Our tavern-style thin crust is the perfect thickness to carry the weight of a generous amount of mozzarella cheese and toppings yet not too heavy. We offer a gluten free cauliflower crust that has surpassed my highest expectations. Never one to waste a pizza meal on inferior crust, I was always skeptical of any type of gluten-free pizza crust. However, I find myself reaching for the gluten-free crust at least once a week to change things up a bit. My favorite gluten-free pizza is olive oil base, with chicken, red onions, jalapenos, and hamburger. Yum!

Maybe more entries in the future?

Hello again,

What a week! Sabino's Pizza Pub is only closed five days each year. Thanksgiving being one of the holidays the restaurant is closed for the entire day. It always brings a bit of relief for myself, managers, and staff alike. We hope you enjoyed your time with friends and family as much as we did this week. Back to work!

With Thanksgiving behind us everyone's attention immediately shifts to the holidays and with that shopping, specifically Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping. It seems like the deals are offered earlier and longer each year. But the one constant that Black Friday shows is the general public's desire for deals and value. This is where I feel pizza and pasta entrees come out on top compared to any other food type. We know that our pizza is not priced the same as a $5 pizza from Domino's or Little Caesars, but who wants to eat that garbage! We price our pizza at a level that offers affordability but also value when given the quality of food you are getting. A two topping pizza from Sabino's Pizza Pub is still cheaper on a per person basis than nearly all other options. That two topping pizza is less than $20, and usually feeds 2-4 people or approximately $5-10 per person. When was the last time you went out to eat for less than $10 per person? I have a family of six and we can't get out of Chick-Fil-A without dropping nearly $75. And that's for greasy, deep fried fast food. Not exactly a gourmet meal. We also offer $9.95 daily lunch specials on all our pasta entrees.

We hope you will keep small businesses in mind when you are doing your holiday shopping this year. Small businesses (especially restaurants) are being stretched with rising labor and food costs along with insurance and other overhead costs that have made the already challenging industry even that much more of an unending battle to survive. Even if it does cost a little more to eat at an independently owned restaurant, just know that money stays in the community compared to eating at a national chain that pushes the money up the corporate ladder into executives and shareholders pockets. Local businesses always need the community's support and no better time than during the holidays.

Hello all,

The cold weather is here, if only for a short time. I've always felt that cold weather and hot pizza are a perfect winter combo. Add in a locally brewed craft beer and you can heat up and cool down all at the same time. The restaurant is decked out in holiday lights, wreaths, and Christmas cheer. This is my favorite time of year at the pub. The lights and decorations make this neighborhood restaurant feel even more cozy and family centric. Pizza, wings, or pasta are all great options during this busy holiday shopping season as well. Nobody wants to order sushi or Mexican food for takeout, but our industry was built on convenient takeout and delivery options for the time-crunched customer. Our food travels well and is sometimes even better hours later. I often tell customers that the best way to eat a Chicago-style stuffed pizza is to wait a couple hours after it comes out the pizza oven. It allows for all the flavors to come together and for the cheese to firm up a bit. However, you have to cut into the pizza right away to get that Instagram worthy cheese pull picture!

One final thing, with all your family and business holiday parties coming up, we have great affordable options to feed up to 150 people! Pizza, pasta, and salad are a great way to feed a large crowd without breaking the bank!

Ciao!
